Welcome

White Silk

Jamie Matthews

Jamie is a neurospicy, elder millennial with a background in social work and psychology with a fervent interest in addressing trauma and attachment, ableism, and 2SLGBTQ+ sex-positive issues. Negotiating chronic health concerns and identity changes has allowed Jamie to have a keen understanding of the intersections between mental health and wellness. Grounded in values of genuineness, compassion, and advocacy, she aims to create a therapeutic space that is not only welcoming and affirming but also accessible to all.

Jamie has worked across diverse populations in many capacities and currently works in the medical field alongside doctors and other allied health professionals in a community mental health setting. Currently, she is completing an internship at a trauma center for those affected by sexual violence, where she delivers compassionate trauma-informed integrative approaches to therapy, tailored to fit each person's individual needs, drawing from approaches of EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping). Jamie has a deep affinity for book collecting – a separate hobby from book reading and spends her time trying to look cool enough for her three teenage daughters to spend time with her, and tirelessly searches for the best Chai in and around the city. She does not have any pets right now, so she has hundreds of animal reels saved on her phone.
